DESIGN STUDIES III (6 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Students would demonstrate the ability in designing symbols, an identity (a logo) and its function to everyday life by first conducting research and developing strategy and concept of branding, then to apply the new corporate identity to a stationery set and other corporate materials as well as create a comprehensive GSM (Graphic Standard Manual) to go along with it.
They must also demonstrate an ability to take a graphic design brief to its finished state, up to the preflight production and presentation.
Topics:
This semester’s project is to design a brand identity of an individual, a company, an organization or a foundation. It can be a profit or a non-profit, private, governmental, national or international company. The essence and the beauty of this project are in the creation of out-of-the box solutions required in a graphic designer. The students will begin the project by doing some research, to unravel the company’s/organization’s backgrounds, values, objectives, etc.
