On successful completion of this course, student will be able to: Describe the study of film genre as a perspective in film studies; Describe the historical and contemporary development of film genres; Compare and contrast conventions and styles associated with specific genres; Explain the specific socio-historical circumstances that give rise to the genres; Analyze the use of genre films as a strategy of storytelling in various cases.
