Learning Outcomes:

Students should be able to discuss and explain the key role of knowledge in an organization along with the forces driving its growth today, to become familiar with the theoretical perspectives of knowledge creation, knowledge transfer, knowledge sharing, and knowledge leadership roles and skills, to understand the relationship between knowledge management and a learning organization, to understand the differences between tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge and the way each is treated in the literature and in knowledge management/knowledge sharing programs, to examine case studies of knowledge management/sharing systems and how they are implemented in the workplace, to learn about the ethical issues and problems inherent in knowledge management /knowledge sharing, to understand the concept of change management and processes, Tools and techniques for shaping changes in our own lives and organizations, and to become familiar with Metrics for measuring change

Topics:

Change is all around us. We are continually asked to manage change in our own lives and organizations. Yet change unfolds through personal and organizational resistance. This course focuses on planning and managing change and provides frameworks and tools to implement it. Teaching is experiential and involves simulation of the change process. This course also examines current theories and foundations of knowledge management. Knowledge assets and their organizational value are examined and analytical and managerial tools and techniques for knowledge acquisition, generation, assessment, evaluation, and dissemination are studied.
