LEADERSHIP AND HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT (2 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: assess effective leadership skills in managing people’s behavior; assess effective human capital management in organizations; analyze the main concepts of leadership; evaluate strategic planning in human resource management; and formulate appropriate actions to ensure effective business results.
Topics:
The course begins with an overview of leadership and human capital management, emphasizing its role in gaining competitive advantage. Students will explore strategic human resources management, equal opportunity and workplace safety, as well as collective bargaining and labor relations. Topics also include work analysis and design, planning and recruitment, and selection and placement. Guest lectures will address training and employee development. The course further covers performance management, an OKR exercise, and a business simulation (Coffee Shop Inc.). Additional topics include employee separation and retention, compensation and benefits, and global human capital management with future issues. Students are also introduced to people analytics, using Excel and Tableau for practical application. The course concludes with a final project presentation.
