INTRODUCTION TO BIOTECHNOLOGY AND ETHICS (2 Credits)
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this course, student will be able to: LO1 – Define the concept of genes as fundamental units of heredity encoded in DNA; LO2 – Describe the genetic principles and dynamic process that interplay in the regulation and gene expression that contribute to the molecular foundations of life; LO3 – Describe the concept molecular cloning and DNA laboratory techniques for research, diagnostics, and biotechnological applications; LO4 – Analyze the biotechnological application across various industries and understand how these innovations contribute to improve each sectors; LO5 – Analyze the regulatory frameworks and ethical dilemma that govern the biotech industry and evaluate moral implications and legal requirements associated with biotechnological advancements, research practices, and product development.
