Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to explain and interpret factors affecting the valuation of fixed income securities; apply and compare appropriate financial analysis to value fixed income securities; and to design and evaluate the performance of a portfolio of fixed income securities
Topics
- This course is intended to provide coverage of the bond products, analytical techniques for valuing bonds and quantifying their exposure to changes in interest rates, and bond portfolio strategies
- Students will learn tools for valuing and measuring yield
- These tools include yield curve construction, duration and convexity, and formal term structure models
- While it is relatively easy to formulate the income claims of fixed-income securities, however it is also important for students to learn more challenging issues such as corporate bond credit analysis, active bond portfolio strategies and bond performance measurement and evaluation
