Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: LO1 – differentiate various types of microorganisms, demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of their characteristics and classifications.; LO2 – calculate growth media for microorganisms and quantify microbial populations, demonstrating competence in assessing growth rates and conditions; LO3 – Explore tests on the physiological activities, metabolism, and genetics of microorganisms, showcasing a practical understanding of their functional attributes; LO4 – explain significant roles that microorganisms play in diverse industrial sectors, including but not limited to agriculture, food, pharmaceuticals, and environmental management; LO5 – apply knowledge of microorganisms in an industrial setting, skillfully utilizing their insights for practical applications, addressing challenges, and fostering innovation in pertinent industries.
