CELL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY (4 CREDITS)

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: LO1 – describe the structure, function, and organization of cellular components, including the plasma membrane, organelles, cytoskeleton, vesicles, and extracellular matrix.; LO2 – explain the key cellular processes such as membrane trafficking, metabolic pathways in mitochondria and chloroplasts, and the mechanisms of cellular motility; LO3 – outline how cells coordinate activities and communicate with each other and their environment, focusing on growth regulation, development, and signal transduction pathways, including those involved in cancer; LO4 – illustrate the fundamental molecular biology concepts, including DNA replication, RNA transcription, protein synthesis, and the regulation of gene expression.; LO5 – analyze the molecular mechanisms of cell signalling pathways involved in real life application. Observing the importance of the signalling regulation pathway and impact in the case of dysregulation and explore ways to leverage it for clinical practice.
