Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the course students will be able to: Explain the concept of management information systems and its major roles in global business; Define the scope, attributes and skills required for consultancy; Explain the crucial necessities to establish a consultancy firm; Explain the consultancy processes and requirements; Explain the (agile) consultancy frameworks; Utilize IT tools in assisting consultancy tasks and evaluate information technology infrastructure and their components; Develop the essential consultant’s skills of communicating with client, managing time-cost, writing report, delivering presentation and submitting deliverables; Apply the developed consultancy skills and frameworks in real commercial/research consultancy projects
Topics
This course will introduce the concepts of management information systems and enable the students to understand the required skills and crucial necessities in the business of consultancy. The course is designed to provide non-information system students with the knowledge and skills for solving business challenges through information systems by understanding how information systems are designed, built, implemented, and maintained. Students will be able to describe the (agile) consultancy frameworks and processes and how to use IT tools in assisting consultancy tasks. The essential consultant’s skills, like communicating with client, managing time-cost, writing report, delivering presentation and submitting deliverables will be developed in this course. Furthermore, the student will be able to apply the consultancy frameworks and skills in real IT commercial and research consultancy projects and how to take advantage of the technologies to design business process that are effective and efficient.
