Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: Identify issues of sustainability in business practices and develop strategic solutions to address the identified sustainability challenges; Apply the framework of sustainability in exploring everyday business operations; Analyze stakeholders and engage them in addressing sustainability challenges and drafting company’s sustainability report; Create framework for monitoring and evaluation for sustainability business.
Topics
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to sustainability management with an equal emphasis on both conceptual framework and practical examples/cases from the global business terrains. In doing so, this course starts with an exploration of the conceptual thinking and the global and local framework of sustainability in business. Such introduction is then followed with topic-specific discussions of sustainability in business processes, such as stakeholder engagements, sustainable corporate cultures, sustainability in social, environmental, and economic aspects, management approach, sustainability reporting, and sustainability-oriented performance measurement, evaluation, and improvement. Each topic will be accompanied with a case study from the field, which allow students not only to engage theory with practice, but also to apply sustainability principles to address real challenges in business, both global or local businesses, big/medium/small company.
