EXECUTING BUSINESS STRATEGY (3 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to: evaluate the strategy and strategic management process; explain and apply a range of analytical tools and the integrative point of view; appraise organizational capability in executing a strategy; and execute and evaluate business and corporate strategies.
Topics:
This strategy execution course is about strategy in action. Whereas a crafting strategy is largely a market- driven activity, an implementing or executing strategy is primarily an operation-driven activity revolving around the management of people and business processes. A strategy execution depends on doing a good job of working with and through others, building and strengthening competitive capabilities, motivating and rewarding people in a strategy supportive manner, and instilling a discipline of getting things done. The course focuses on ways to close the gap between strategy formulation and execution, between expectations and results. The best strategy is not enough unless a whole series of supporting moves puts that plan into effect.
