NEWSROOM MANAGEMENT (2 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: Describe and discuss how editors perform their multiple roles in the newsroom; Illustrate newsroom structures, values and practice; Identify global and local trends in media ownership and control.
Topics:
In this course, students are exposed to the foundations of the media industry in terms of leadership and planning, learn about the special ethical and legal responsibilities of newsroom managers, and the risks which newsrooms may have to face in the future. Due to the practical nature of newsroom management, students are exposed to the practical process of the newsroom and its management.
Pre-requisite: Introduction to Journalism
