Visual Communication Design II (4 Credits)
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: recognize the formal qualities of text and image as main elements of layout; apply principles of visual composition and organization across printed and digital media; produce a layout with specific and clear communication objective.
Topics:
This study will explore the history, theory, and function of grid systems, including modular grids, column grids, hierarchical grids, and baseline grids. Emphasis will be placed on how grids improve readability, visual alignment, and design consistency, while also allowing creative flexibility within a structured format. Topics covered include typographic alignment, spacing, margins, gutters, and rhythm, as well as adapting grids to different print formats and sizes.
