DIRECTING I (4 SCU)
Learning Outcomes :
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: Express visual concepts using the elements of mise-en-scene; Apply basic skills of directing crews and actors; Analyze a film to reflect the director’s vision; Identify various styles of film directing; Communicate effectively on visual interpretation to actor and film crew; Apply good team work and leadership skills in film production.
Topics :
A director is a storyteller. This course introduces directing skills and language in overcoming narrative, dramatic, and visual challenge, preparing students to tell story effectively and expressively. The course will teach various skills on film direction, both theory and practical. Students will be introduce to the fundamental theories of the mise en scene, various works and style of other directors screened in class and practice these skills in class and in directing their own projects.
Prerequisite : SCRIPTWRITING I: STORYTELLING STRATEGY, PERFORMANCE STRATEGY
