CINEMATOGRAPHY I (4 SCU)
Learning Outcomes :
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: Explain basic skills and knowledge of cinematography; Explain the logic of celluloid camera, 16 and 35 mm; Explain the logic of video and high definition camera; Explain the operation ofdifferent kinds of celluloid and high definition camera; Explain the need of compatible technology in production, post-production, and exhibition; Apply basic knowledge of cinematography to implement aesthetic visual storytelling.
Topics :
This course introduces students to basic aesthetics of cinematography, followed by study of collaboration between a director and director of photography, the understanding of visual development of film scripts, and ends with study of aesthetic and creative application of cinematography skills.The class develops students understanding about technical aspect of digital camera and celluloid film. As well as, the latest digital technology in film, the transfer process between digital and celluloid formats, exhibition and their consequences to film production and viewing practice.
Prerequisite : VISUAL WORKSHOP, BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY, FILM AND MEDIA TECHNOLOGY
