APPLIED FINANCE (3 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected able to; analyze financial statements; choose the appropriate financial analysis tools for decision-making processes in a given business situation; identify and effectively use IT applications in calculating bonds, optimal portfolio selections, options, and leasing; and apply principles of financial analysis in decision-making to forecast future performance.
Topics:
The course will cover risk and return, stocks and bonds, capital budgeting, cost of capital, foreign exchange, and risk management. The course also discusses challenges encountered by finance because digital interactions shorten the gap between the back-office system and the customer touchpoint, questioning the relevance of the existing decision-making, product development, product launch and sales processes in maintaining and creating the economic value or wealth of business. The trend on real-time reporting, finance application, and microservice challenge the innovation from the conventional enterprise resource planning of a company in facilitating monetization, evolving pricing, delivery models and tracking and optimizing return.
