Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: analyse how the ecosystem of fintech changes the traditional banking; explain the modern investment using fintech; explain the effect of disruptive of robo-advising, crowdfunding, machine learning and artificial intelligence, peer-to-peer lending, cryptocurrency, blockchain; and evaluate the existing financial regulation and fintech.
Topics
Fintech is still at its earliest stages of future impact of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and block chain. The total transaction value of digital payments was USD 57 million in 2021 (statista.com, 2021). The course will provide students to understand financial technology from different perspective: an incumbent financial institution, a disruptive technology firm, societal effects and regulatory responses, and a private equity investor. The course is designed with 3 credits and will cover: understanding of fintech ecosystem including digital payment, learn about modern investment using fintech, introduce the power of disruptive including robo-advising, crowdfunding, machine learning and artificial intelligence, peer-to-peer lending, cryptocurrency, blockchain, and finally to synergize the financial regulation and digital platform operation.
