Learning Outcomes:
The subject of Strategic Financial Technology reveals how variety of technologies act as innovation catalysts within the banking and financial services sector. Traditional banks and financial services are under increasing competition from global IT companies such as Google, Apple, Amazon and PayPal whilst facing pressure from investors to reduce costs, increase agility and improve customer retention. Upon successful completion of the course, students are expected to be able to describe the ecosystem of financial technologies, describe the characteristics of financial technology products, and articulate how these disruption in the realm of financial management will change the future of financial strategies.
Topics:
Technologies such as blockchain, cloud computing, mobile technologies, big data analytics and social media therefore have perhaps more potential in this industry and area of business than any other. The course will cover wide ranges of topics including crowdfunding, peer-to-peer lending, machine learning, high-frequency trading, insurtech, digital regulatory compliance, payment services and social consideration for digital money.
