Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: Explain principles of intercultural communication as the instruments for success when interacting with people from diverse culture; Apply principles of communication and non-verbal communication for effective communication in a culturally diverse environment; Explain concepts of different cultures and cultural characteristics to communicate with colleagues and customers from a broad range of backgrounds.
Topics
This course deals with the communication that is required by all people working in the tourism and hospitality industries. It covers the four contexts of intercultural communication (individual, interpersonal, organizational and community/societal) and the cultural knowledge needed for serving customers and working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds. In this course, the students develop their communication skills needed to be effective in a socially and culturally diverse environment
