Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to explain basic accounting equation, accounting principles, accounting cycle and flow of information and the cost principles, explain principles of the accounting and financial management in a hotel and in the restaurant operations, interpret the financial statement/ information and its use for decision making.
Topics
This course gives students a complete introduction to financial accounting principles and how to apply them to all facets of the hospitality industry. It provides the skills and knowledge required to interpret the types of financial information used by operational supervisors and managers in their day-to-day work activities. It focuses on understanding of key financial terminology, the analysis of financial reports and on how financial information is used for decision-making purposes in the management of a business.
