MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS FOR LEADER (4 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: Explain the concept of management information systems and its major role in global business; Explain and evaluate information technology (IT) infrastructures and their components; Identify and explain ethical issues related to the use of technology in business; Apply knowledge management and business intelligence techniques for making decisions; Create a database for organization using Microsoft Access; Manage and analyze data using Microsoft Excel.
Topics:
This course will introduce the concepts of management information systems and the various roles that management information systems play in modern organizations and business. The course is designed to provide non-information system students with the knowledge and skills for solving business challenges through information systems by understanding how information systems are designed, built, implemented, and maintained. There will be discussions on business challenges and technologies that can be used to help managers meet these challenges; and how to take advantage of the technologies to design business processes that are effective and efficient.
