CALCULUS (4 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to describe limits and continuity of functions; discuss basic concepts of differentiation and integration of functions such as: algebraic, trigonometric, and transcendental functions; demonstrate the application of concepts of derivative and integration of functions to solve engineering problems; examine the convergence of infinite sequences and series; discuss conic sections and graph in three-space.
Topics:
As a gateway to many other advanced courses in computer science, this course is designed for students taking Computer Science program. It provides fundamental concepts in Calculus and Analytic Geometry that permits a better understanding of the concepts and their properties. The course revises ideas associated with continuous functions, basic concepts of differentiation and integration, sequences and series as well as solid analytic geometry. Topics covered in this course include limits of functions, continuity; derivatives and their applications; indefinite and definite integrations, and their applications; sequences and series; straight lines; spheres; and quadratic surfaces.
