IT INFRASTRUCTURE AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT (2 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: assess IT infrastructure needs in organizations to run digital businesses, provide innovative recommendations in developing IT infrastructure to support business objectives, demonstrate a systematic approach and integrative thinking in employing project management concepts for IT infrastructure development; examine the impact of evolving digital technology in project management application for the IT infrastucture on the organization’s competitiveness; and propose a digital technology fit plan on a project management execution.

In this constantly changing business environment, business becomes progressively more complex. Information technology (IT) infrastucture is a key component in digital businesses’ offerings and operations. This course covers basic development and management of local area networks, wide area networks, public and private networks, web architecture and applications, data management and warehousing, management information systems, security of IT networks, and people management. Besides, every professional must have technical competencies and the ability to manage projects and execute the overall organization’s strategy within the given projected time, scope, and under-budget. However, every professional should also constantly improve themselves with a cutting-edge technological understanding since digital technologies are also evolving and can affect an organization’s capabilities to maintain its superior competitiveness continuously. In this course, students will study the importance of adopting new technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, and the proliferation of data collection and analysis into the IT infrastucture project management process. The student will also be learning the discerning of “digital technologies fit” to avoid disastrous effect on the project, time, and budget.
