STRATEGIC PROCUREMENT (3 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to master: identifying supply chain and procurement management issues; assessing decisions for solving problems in procuring resources; building innovative solutions in procurement management through research in a multidisciplinary environment solutions based on ethical analysis both for local and international context; developing strategic and effective implementation plans in sourcing and purchasing management; producing suitable leadership concepts for leading the organization of procurement in multidiscipline, multifunction, and multicultural organizations; creating effective written communication for research and reporting tools using appropriate ICT tools; and building effective oral communication skills in managing the organisation of procurement.
Topics:
The course provides students with knowledge and skills of supply chain, sourcing, and purchasing management through a strategic perspective. The course spans the topics of supply chain strategic models and performance, the global supply chain configuration and management, supply chain mapping and analysis, managing and leading the organisation of procurement, spend and supply market analysis, category management, supplier evaluation, negotiating with suppliers, contracting and legal issues of sourcing and purchasing, early supplier involvement, innovation in procurement strategies, as well as humanitarian supply chains and public procurement.
