CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN MARKETING (1 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to create effective communication in writing; prepare a research paper, and publish it in a designated journal.
Topics:
According to Tom Gimbel, who is the CEO and founder of Lasalle Network – recruiting firm based in Chicago (2015), there are 6 (six) competencies that make a right marketing candidate. Those six competencies are analytical and research skills, digital savvy, strong writing and editing skills, the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, initiative and cultural fit. This course is to complement the preceding Research Methodology for Marketing course that focuses on the development of the research skills. In this later course, students will have an opportunity to publish their latest research findings in the respected journal. It will not only develop a portfolio for the students, but it will also increase the students’ confidence to write a reputable paper that follows the acknowledged research methods. Mentored by experienced lecturers, the students will work in a group of two for the whole process of publication.
