Learning Outcomes:
After completing the course, students will be able to: formulate ideas, result of thought, and scientific arguments in a responsible and academic manner, and communicate them through the media to the academic community and the wider community; Recognize the importance of publication as an essential part of the scientific research process and to realize that scholars have a responsibility to share their knowledge with colleagues in the form of publication, Identify the publication outlets and publication requirements of various journals in your field or area of specialization, Analyze published papers and prepare a manuscript for publication, and Deal with the mechanics of the submission, review, revision, and publication processes.
Topics:
The major purpose of this course is to provide you with technical knowledge and skills necessary to write and to publish professional papers. A secondary purpose is to acquaint you with the requirements of journals in your area of specialization and to provide you with first-hand experience with the publication process. Topics include title, authorship, abstracts, intro, methods refs, results, discussion, tables figures, technical writing: review of grammar, writing review papers and research-based information articles, preparing, and submitting the manuscript, preparing a slide/power point poster presentation, review and analysis of student manuscripts, review and publication process, writing book reviews, textbooks, articles for lay audience, ethics, copyrights and permissions
