SCIENTIFIC WRITING IN COMMUNICATION (8 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: understand the importance of scientific writing for academic publication; identity various types of scientific writing; explain the various types of scientific writing for communication field; apply technical tools in scientific writing; differentiate the format and styles between scientific writing for qualitative and quantitative research; demonstrate the writing skills for scientific publications in media and communication field; demonstrate editing skills for scientific publications in media and communication field; and evaluate the missing gaps in scientific writing for publications.
Topics:
The course teaches students how to write scientific articles for various purposes mainly for scholarly publications in the field of media and publication. Along the way, the students also learn to use technical tools for writing such as Mendeley or EndNote to record references and keep up with their writing. At the end of the course, students must produce an article to be published on an international scholarly journal.
