BIOCHEMISTRY (2/2 CREDITS)
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: LO1 – explain the structure, classification, characteristic, and roles of biomolecules withing the living system; LO2 – outline the mechanisms and regulation of enzymes as the biocatalys in the metabolism of living system; LO3 – illustrate the metabolic pathways of biomolecules (carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, and nucleotides) and their integration in living systems; LO4 – Explain the principles of bioenergetics and the energy-producing pathways including glycolysis, the citric acid cycle, oxidative phosphorylation, and photosynthesis; LO5 – demonstrate the biochemistry laboratory techniques to perform the biochemical assay, measure enzyme activity, and execute the separation of various biomolecules.
