Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this Course, students will be able to: Define the basic terminology of computer networks and recognize the individual components of the big picture of computer networks; Distinguish between data and signals, and cite the advantages of digital data and signals over analog data and signals; List the primary function, activities, and application areas of a local area network and distinguish local area networks, metropolitan area networks, and wide area networks from each other; Understand management aspects of computer networks and the ways to conduct management activities over communication network; Understand security and risks aspects of data communications and the ways to conduct secure transactions over communication network; Recognize the systems development life cycle and define each of its phases.
