TOURISM GEOGRAPHY (2 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to: Explain the influence of geography to tourism demand, Identify and explain geographical characteristics of different tourism destinations around the world, explain the positive and negative impacts of tourism on the environment, social-culture, and economics of a country/region.
Topics:
This course provides a basic understanding of the analysis of tourist destinations and other supply elements of tourism, the interaction between the geographical components of the tourism system, world travel patterns, including the origin, characteristics of a tourist destination region, major attractions of a destination, and seasonality of travel to a certain region. It also provides a basic geographic overview of the world and major geographic regions to give insights about the geographic character that comprises the setting for tourism to a particular region.
