Indonesia’s Foreign Policy
Learning outcomes
This course focuses on the nature of Indonesia foreign policy and foreign policy-making and process. The unique feature of Indonesia’s foreign policy, that is free and active, and the challenges the country faces abroad are also highlighted. By the end of the course, students shall understand the evolving Indonesia’s foreign policy, how Indonesia’s foreign policy is made and implemented and the role of major actors in shaping those policies.
Topics
A series of lectures and seminars will be directed to answer key questions such as the important factors that determine Indonesia’s foreign policy and major goals or objectives of those policies. It also highlights Indonesia’s foreign policy strategies toward countries or regions serving as concentric circles, particularly Indonesia’s strategic partner countries such as the United State, China, Japan and member states of ASEAN.
