Preface

Thank you to God Almighty, the BINA NUSANTARA Foundation has succeeded in developing BINUS UNIVERSITY to be a recognized and highly valued educational institution, not only for all the Indonesian people from all paths of life in general but also for the educational world in particular. BINUS, as an educational institution has shown its continuous commitment to delivering excellent and relevant quality education to industries’ needs. To achieve the international quality standard, we continuously strive our best to provide students with an excellent learning process, contemporary course materials, and professional human resources to deliver knowledge and skills. Additionally, we apply the student-centred learning method and develop internationally recognized curricula with our industrial and international partners. Also, we measure and improve our quality under ISO 9001:2008 (since 1997), education criteria for performance excellence based on MBNQA (Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award).  Awarded nine times since 2007, BINUS University became the winner of the Indonesian MAKE Award (Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise) in 2016 and also conferred with several special recognitions such as “Admirable Strong Internal Commitment” in 2011, and “Admirable Consistency in Improving Knowledge Management Implementation” in 2013. BINUS University also received the award of 2014 Asian MAKE Winner in the following year. Starting in 2018, the MAKE Award has turned into the MIKE Award (Most Innovative Knowledge Enterprise Award), and every year from 2018 to 2022, BINUS is the winner of the MIKE Award.

As our commitment to ensuring the delivery of world-class education, BINUS UNIVERSITY endeavours to achieve national and international accreditation. For national accreditation, 12 study programs in BINUS University received “Unggul” and 13 study programs received “A” accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) of the Republic of Indonesia in 2022. BINUS UNIVERSITY also earned an award as “BEST PRIVATE UNIVERSITY” from Private University Coordinator (KOPERTIS) for Region III DKI Jakarta in 2012. The recent achievement in 2022, BINUS UNIVERSITY institution awarded “Unggul” in institution accreditation (AIPT) of BAN-PT.

In the succession of national accreditation, BINUS UNIVERSITY is also eager to achieve international accreditation from some reputable international accreditation boards. BINUS UNIVERSITY first obtained full accreditation from ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) in 2015 and renewed in 2021 for Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Computer Engineering study programs. BINUS UNIVERSITY also achieved IABEE (Indonesian Accreditation Board of Engineering Education) accreditation for Computer Engineering in 2019, and for Industrial Engineering and Civil Engineering in 2018. As for the Hotel Management program, BINUS UNIVERSITY has been awarded TEDQUAL accreditation, an international accreditation system for tourism and hospitality education in 2018 and renewed in 2022. In 2018, BINUS UNIVERSITY also achieved the QS 4 Stars Rating System. As part of international recognition, BINUS UNIVERSITY achieved the ranking of 801-1000 position in QS World University in 2019 and 2020. At the end of 2019, BINUS Business School has been rewarded with AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation, one of the most reputable global business education networks and associations from the USA. For Accounting (Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programs), International Relations, and Visual Communication Design (Jakarta, Bandung and Malang) study programs also have been accredited by HEEACT (Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan) in 2022.

To increase the students’ readiness in facing global competition, we prepare a one-year enrichment program starting from Binusian 2018. The objectives of this enrichment program are to facilitate students to apply the knowledge and skills that they obtain in their learning process. At the end of the study, students will get involved in various enrichment programs such as industrial experience, twinning programs, research, business startup, and community development.

With 41 years of exceptional experience in education and more than 120.000 alumni, BINUS UNIVERSITY is ready to become an international educational institution. BINUS UNIVERSITY is designed to support graduates to gain excellent global career opportunities. BINUS UNIVERSITY offers single and double major programs in collaboration with prominent overseas universities to improve the qualifications of graduates. In the double major program, graduates will be conferred two bachelor’s degrees.

This catalogue provides a compilation of comprehensive information concerning BINUS UNIVERSITY, its history, aims, vision and mission, organizational structure and quality management system. It also describes the educational systems applied to diploma programs, undergraduate programs, master programs and doctoral programs. This catalogue also described the competence and curricula of each study program consisting of the distribution of subjects and prerequisites and the syllabi of each subject. There is brief information at the end of this catalogue concerning the development of BINUS UNIVERSITY students.

We expect that this catalogue can be of great insight to all the “stakeholders” of BINUS UNIVERSITY in general and its academic community in particular. Consequently, it assists the institution as a principal in guiding and providing service to both students and candidates as well as a communication media to Indonesian altogether.

BINUSIANs aim to be a part of recognized visionary communities as a leader in Information Technology (IT). BINUS UNIVERSITY prepares BINUSIANs to be successful professionals or entrepreneurs through a global learning system approach, IT-based independent learning, core competence and clear pathways in various study programs, and last but not least, through character-building subjects. In achieving this aim, BINUS UNIVERSITY will always increase its quality as an education provider. The innovative-flexible program, on-time lecturing program, and high-qualified lecturers have supported the implementation of such a standard at BINUS UNIVERSITY.
