Professional Engineer Program (PEP)
Introduction
The Professional Engineer Program is a program designed to benefit working professionals who seek to improve their qualifications through specialized degree programs and professional certificates. In accordance with Permendikbudristek No. 39, 2022, there are 2 streams that student candidates can take to participate in this program, namely the Regular program and the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program. The regular program which will be completed in 2 semesters can be enrolled by new student graduates or those who have less than 2 years of engineering experience after graduating from a Bachelor of Engineering (ST) or a Bachelor of Applied Engineering (S.Tr.T) program, or those who have at least 3 years of work experience in the engineering field with a Bachelor of Science (S.Si), a Bachelor of Computer Science (S.Kom), or a Bachelor of Education in engineering (S.Pd). For candidates who have more than 2 years of work experience in the engineering field, they can take the Recognition to Prior Learning (RPL) program, which can be completed in one semester to obtain a professional title of Certified Engineer or Engineer (Ir.). This RPL program cannot be enrolled by graduates of Bachelor of Science (S.Si), Bachelor of Computer Science, and Bachelor of Education (S.Pd). In this program, students holding an accredited bachelor’s degree must enhance their contemporary knowledge to lead and manage their professional advancement in a highly competitive global environment.
As a new program of the Faculty of Engineering, the Professional Engineer Program is a crucial need in Indonesia to meet the number of professional engineers needed in many fields of engineering. Also, certification of the profession of Indonesian engineers is also indispensable to compete in the era of the ASEAN Economic Community (MEA), and even more to compete globally. This program provides an opportunity to increase individual competence and professionalism through continuous professional development as well to get engineer certification. The scope of engineering disciplines in this program may cover: civil engineering and the construction environment; architecture, computer engineering, industrial engineering, food technology, and biotechnology.
