Introduction

The school of Accounting (SoA) at BINUS University offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the Accounting discipline. The School has five programs for an undergraduate degree (S1) in Accounting, comprises of Accounting, Accounting Technology, Finance, Finance (International) and Taxation program. As for the postgraduate degree (S2), the School offers four streams: Assurance and Attestation, Managerial Accounting, Finance and Information Systems & Analytics. Both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the School of Accounting have been internationally accredited by HEEACT (Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan) and earned “Unggul” accreditation from the National Accreditation body. Furthermore, the curriculum of each program is continuously updated and benchmarked to national and multinational companies and reputable international universities.

The accounting undergraduate Study Program provides a broad variety of courses in the accounting discipline. The Study Program is offered on three different campuses (Kemanggisan, Alam Sutra, and Bekasi). It has concentrations that are aligned with professional accounting certification, namely, Auditing and Assurance, Fiscal Management, Accounting Data Analytics and Business & Corporate Sustainability. Those concentrations are linked with national and international certification bodies such as IAI Global, IAPI, BKP, CIMA, ICAEW, CPA Australia and ACCA.

A unique Program, namely, Accounting Technology is also offered in Binus @Bekasi Campus to make the accounting program stay abreast with the latest development in business technology. This program aims to produce graduates that can use accounting and audit-based technology to support decision business processes. Some of the units offered by this program are various levels of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) – fundamental, small-medium enterprises and financial accounting & controlling, Data Analytics in Accounting and Business Intelligence in Accounting.

Finance Program is a distinguished program that provides comprehensive knowledge in Finance, Accounting and Financial Technology (Fin-Tech). This Program will equip students with knowledge that enable them to analyse, evaluate and make financing, and investment decisions. Besides, students are also introduced to and expected to embrace the trend of Fin-Tech that increases and leads to financial disruption which transforms the financial industry very quickly. The finance program is strongly linked with professional certifications such as Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Risk Management Professional. Finance Program also offers an International Program (Senayan Campus) in collaboration with the University of Newcastle (UoN), Australia which will reward the graduate with a BINUS degree and the UoN degree. The Program is intended for students who want to enrich their studies with global experience and a double degree program with our international reputable university partners. The regular Finance program is offered on the Alam Sutra campus, while the Finance Program – International is based on the Senayan campus.

The taxation program is an exclusive program that aims to prepare students with organizational, business, and advisory knowledge, and taxation technology to succeed in a career in the taxation area. This program combines theoretical and conceptual aspects of taxation with practical insights from the tax industry – given most of the lecturers are experienced, practitioners and certified tax consultants. The sample of courses from this program is Tax Technology System Design, High Networth Individual and International Tax Planning, Tax Risk, Litigation and Advisory and Corporate Tax Management.

Finally, the School also oversee the postgraduate degree in Accounting (S2) or Master of Accounting program. the program aims to fulfil global accounting profession needs by providing innovative and international standard study programs through developing an accounting professions-oriented and IT-based curriculum. By doing so, the program expects to provide career opportunities for graduates at the managerial level at respected and multinational companies. Finally, the postgraduate program strives to improve the research and analytical thinking of the graduates so, they can contribute more to the debate and discussion about accounting and finance-related policies. The Master of Accounting program offers unique courses such as Forensic Accounting & Corporate Governance, Data Intelligence and Innovation, Quantitative and Qualitative Data Analysis and Advanced Managerial Accounting & Decision Making.
