SOUND PRODUCTION (3 SCU)
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to construct work that demonstrates perceptual acuity in sound development, a conceptual understanding, and technical facility at a professional entry level in the field of Sound Design; demonstrate the ability to apply sound elements in an individual / collaborative project; demonstrate the ability to conduct research and conceptual thinking in historical, cultural, and stylistic contexts at an advanced level; and exhibit their design work and contribute in critiques and discussions of their work and the work of others.
Topics:
Students analyze the use of sound in past and present films, videogames, and interactive media spaces from a historic and cultural perspective. Through individual and collaborative assignments, students learn how sound can be developed and used to communicate effectively and enhance experiences in interactive digital media environments.
